1: ”UK’s first AI abuse case”

The UK has sentenced Hugh Nelson to 18 years in prison in a landmark AI abuse case. He used AI to turn innocent images of children into explicit material, selling these images online. Police warn that advancing AI tech poses growing risks, but the Nelson case sets the tone of how these situations will be handled: offenders will be prosecuted.

2: ”Generative AI on the new Iphones”

Apple Intelligence, introduced with iOS 18.1, brings generative AI tools to devices powered by the specialized chip and hardware designed for this purpose. First features include a more conversational Siri and smarter photo editing, thought to improve the user experience, as more “nice to have” than groundbreaking additions. 

3: ”The first humanoid robot artist to have an artwork sold at auction”

A digital painting of Alan Turing by AI artist Ai-Da Robot sold for $1,084,800 at Sotheby’s, the first time artwork by a humanoid robot has been auctioned. Ai-Da, who used AI to create the portrait, took up to eight hours to complete each of the 15 paintings of Turing.
